The quite oaky 2013 Lo Món felt quite commercial with plenty of sweet spices, smoke and ripe berry fruit. The flavors are dominated by oak-related notes. For fans of oaky reds. It's a blend of 60% Garnacha, 20% Cari?ena, 15% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French barriques for one year. 25,000 bottles produced.

The 2012 Lo Món is a blend of 65% Garnacha, 25% Cari?ena, 8% Syrah and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in French barriques for one year. The nose shows plenty of oak-related aromas and some Mediterranean herbs over a core of ripe black fruit. The palate revealed abundant, slightly dusty tannins and oak-related flavors that might benefit from some more time in bottle. There are 30,000 bottles produced.

The ripe and rich 2011 Lo Mon shows the effect of the 2011 Priorat vintage and reveals some macerated fruit intermixed with wet slate flavors and aromas plus some esparto grass hints. It's a blend of 60% Garnacha, 25% Cari?ena, 10% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in oak barrels (mostly French) for one year before being bottled. It has a good Priorat texture without many excesses, good acidity (especially for the vintage) and tasty flavors, even though the oak is still too obvious for my taste. I'd opt for giving it a little more time in bottle so it has the chance to better integrate the fruit with the oak. 30,000 bottles were filled in July 2013.

The 2010 Lo Mon is produced with a blend of old-vine and young-vine fruit, mostly Garnacha with about one-fourth Carinena and small percentages of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which aged in oak barrels for one year. It shows a bright ruby color and a nose of red and blue fruit with some shy notes of candied orange skin, pollen and honey, a little unusual in a red. It has good balance and freshness, with fine tannins and pure flavors, ending with a mineral feeling. A very good, special and balanced red Priorat. Drink 2014-2020. Trossos del Priorat was created in 2004, they now produce 50,000 bottles per year. Tros is the Catalan language word for “piece” or “plot”, referring to a place and trossos is the plural, so you’ll find the word quite frequently. The 2009 Lo Mon is a blend of 60% Garnacha, 15% Carinena, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Syrah from a mixture of young and old (80-year-old) vines. It undergoes aging in one- to four-year-old barrels. The nose is reticent at first, demanding coaxing from the glass, eventually revealing blackberry, hawthorn and lavender aromas that are well-defined and will hopefully develop greater vigour. The palate is full-bodied with succulent ripe black fruit on the entry. It is primal but well-defined and quite sinewy towards the finish, which gently grips the mouth. This has good aging potential.
