The 2009 Roseira is a blend of Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, aged for three months in tank and 17 months in used French oak barrels. It comes in at 13.5% alcohol. It seems like a night-and-day difference from the 2008, also reviewed. Here, the oak is far better integrated. Surprisingly elegant in this big vintage, the wine seems remarkably graceful, but don't be fooled: there is some pop and power on the finish and it tightened with air. Overall, this is very nice, a wine that straddles the middle of the road and should make a nice food wine. There were 4,760 bottles produced.
