Plush, soft and round, the 2017 Gigondas Romane Machotte Rose sees a bit of barrel-aging. Crushed stone and peach notes lead the way, followed by a medium to full-bodied wine that would be best used as a light red wine, with just a cellar-temperature chill.

The smokin' good 2015 Gigondas Romane Machotte Rose from Pierre Amadieu checks in a direct press and partial saignee blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Cinsault and 15% Syrah that was raised all in stainless steel. Its light salmon/pink color is followed by terrific salty minerality to go with plenty of spice, currants and herbes de Provence-like aromas and flavors. Deliciously fresh and lively on the palate, yet still with texture, it's a beautiful Rosé to drink over the coming summer.

Another terrific rosé from this estate, the 2014 Gigondas Romane Machotte Rosé is made from a direct press of 60% Grenache, 25% Cinsault and 15% Syrah that was raised all in stainless steel. Beautiful on all accounts, it has lots of white peach, strawberry, flowers and rose petal-like aromas and flavors, medium-bodied richness, and a seamless, silky, rounded texture. Possessing both freshness and richness, it will be versatile on the dinner table and drink well through the end of 2015. It's high quality, and while not cheap, it delivers on the quality front.

Also a solid effort, with ample dried cherries, underbrush, herbes de Provence and citrus, the 2013 Gigondas Romane Machotte Rose is medium-bodied, juicy, nicely balanced and dry.
