Aromas of sweet cherries, red plums and rose hips followed by a hint of bark and baking spices. Medium-bodied with crisp acidity and lightly chewy tannins that round off the ripe berries. Drink now.

Aged for one quick year in oak, the 2021 Rosso di Montalcino shows dark fruit and dried cherry with some tarry smoke and subtle spice in a supporting role. This tastes simple, but it has medium concentration and nice freshness to close. This is a 35,000-bottle release.

The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is soft and nicely concentrated in appearance, enough to recognize the heat and ripeness of the vintage. This wine shows layers of dark cherry, blackberry, earth and crushed flowers. This is a classic Rosso but perhaps a little more extracted and softer than most. Some 30,000 bottles were released.

Opening to dark fruit and dried cherry, the 2018 Rosso di Montalcino is a plump and satisfying expression of Tuscany's Sangiovese, with 35,000 bottles produced. There is sweet cherry and blueberry fruit, and enough of it to build a soft, fruit-forward mouthfeel for your favorite pappardelle recipe.

The Mocali 2017 Rosso di Montalcino shows aromas of ripe cherry, black fruit and rhubarb. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and ages in botte grande for ten months. It delivers fullness and some bitterness with metallic notes on the close. Raw fruit flavors are followed by nutty flavors. Some 35,000 bottles were made.
