A mild disappointment, given the strong showing of so many of Von Schubert’s other bottlings, the 2003 Auslese 155 is pleasantly light-bodied and nicely balances sugar and acidity. But unless I missed it, it doesn’t show the same compelling complexity and minerality, instead relying on fruity-sweet flavors of ripe apples and pears. Hold 5–10 years, hoping for more detail to emerge with time. ——J.C.(12/15/2004)—— 88
