The 2018 Meursault Narvaux reveals scents of pear, green apple, white flowers and fresh hazelnuts. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, fine-boned and chalky, with an elegantly open-knit, charming profile. This is an expressive Narvaux that will drink well young.

The 2016 Meursault Narvaux was reduced to 300 liters this vintage. It has a tightly wound bouquet that demanded a lot of coaxing, hints of white chocolate and almond emerging after five minutes of aeration. The palate is surprisingly mellifluous on the entry, overtly honeyed in texture with veins of orange zest and apricot toward the Muscat-tinged finish. I am uncertain whether this will be a long-term Meursault but it certainly has a lot of flavor.

The 2014 Meursault Narvaux has a slightly candied bouquet with hints of peach and lemon thyme emerging with time. The palate has a little more weight and presence compared to the Les Vireuils, sharing a spiciness and sense of tension on the slightly abrupt finish. It should gain a little persistence during the rest of its élevage.

The 2013 Meursault Narvaux has a taut, hazelnut and smoke-scented bouquet in the making: reticent at first, but it gains confidence in the glass. The palate is ripe and generous on the entry with hints of tangerine and orange rind: nicely balanced with a gentle, stem ginger finish that lingers in the mouth. Understated and well crafted, though one for early drinking rather than aging.

The 2010 Meursault Les Narvaux is gorgeous. Vibrant mineral notes jump from the glass followed by layers of expressive fruit with burnished, warm overtones. The Narvaux is quite a bit more open and deep than the Vireuils owing to the heavy presence of clay in this site. Accordingly, it should drink better earlier as well. Anticipated maturity: 2013+. Benjamin Leroux is probably best known to readers for his superb work at Comte Armand, but the wines Leroux crafts under his own micro-negociant label are equally worthy of attention. In addition to the wines listed here, I also tasted just about all the 2011 whites. Those wines are shaping up beautifully and in some cases will rival or perhaps even surpass the 2010s for their balance.
