Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Leroux's 2014 Volnay 1er Cru Pitures-Dessus looked a little aged in the glass compared to its peers. However, the aromatics are attractive with scents of cranberry leaf and freshly tilled soil. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, fleshy on the entry; but there is not great depth to this Volnay, and it feels straight-laced and slightly enervated toward the finish. Tasted September 2017.
