The 2020 Rising Tides is a blend of 69% Grenache and 31% Syrah that features blueberries and red cherry jam aromas with accents of aniseed, forest floor and pipe tobacco. The medium-bodied palate is chalky and fresh with earth-laced fruits and a long, spicy finish.

The 2019 Rising Tides is a pretty blend of Grenache (67%), Syrah (26%) and Graciano (7%). Medium ruby-purple, it features alluring wild berries, rooibos tea, dried rose petals and dark spices on the nose, gaining more aromatic nuance as it opens in the glass. The medium-bodied palate has fine, grainy tannins and balances intense, spicy fruits with addicting juicy uplift, finishing long and layered.

The 2009 Rising Tides emerges from the glass with layers of dark red fruit, prunes, leather, licorice and spices. It is one of the deeper, more textured wines in this lineup owing to the significant presence of Mourvedre and Syrah. The plushness and darkness of the fruit carries through nicely to the muscular finish. The blend is 40% Mourvedre, 30% Syrah and 30% Grenache. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2017. Matt Trevisan is one of the more colorful characters in Paso Robles. His wines are equally eccentric, and show flashes of brilliance sprinkled with plenty of unexpected twists. Trevisan seems to be especially gifted with Zinfandel based blends. Like some of his colleagues, Trevisan has begun experimenting with fermenting in cement vats. I get the sense that if Trevisan were a little more focused his wines could make a significant jump in quality. I also tasted the 2009 Nemesis and Slacker from barrel just before bottling, but neither wine seemed to be showing well.
