With fruit from Serralunga d'Alba, this is the most structured and ultimately my favorite wine in this grouping from Fontanafredda. The 2017 Barolo Fontanafredda Vigna la Rosa shows a soft and glossy quality of fruit, with wild berry, cassis, tar, licorice and tarry smoke. You sense more power and concentration here, with mineral notes of iron and dusty earth. Give this wine a few more years to flesh out and take on additional volume. Some 12,000 bottles were made.
