The 1999 Barolo La Rosa is from one of the home vineyards around the winery in Serralunga d’Alba. Sweet and smoky on the nose with supplementary scents of sweet licorice, saddle leather, and kirsch, it is a warm, mouthfilling example of Serralunga Barolo, sizeable and intense, but balanced and round as well. The power is kept well in check by the sweetness of the fruit and the polish of the tannins. Already a fine glass of Barolo, I would opt for drinking this wine between 2006 and 2020.
