This is fresh and vibrant with red cherries, dried orange peel, chocolate nibs, dried flowers and bark. Medium- to full-bodied with firm, chalky tannins and velvety texture. Juicy and savory with a lengthy and vibrant finish. From organically grown grapes. Try after 2025.

The 2018 Barolo Fossati (a certified organic wine) is taut and elegant with pretty aromas of wild cherry, candied fruit, licorice, tar and toasted aniseed. The wine is quite polished and smooth in terms of mouthfeel with well-integrated tannins.

The Enzo Boglietti 2017 Barolo Fossati (with the copper-colored label) opens to a medium garnet color with some brown amber on the rims. The wine is compact, lean, and it is impossible not to notice the etched mineral notes of iron rust or dark stone. These give the wine a more etched or angular personality next to the softer and fruitier expressions in this series. There is a dusting of black pepper on the close. Production is 3,800 bottles.

Perfumed, this red exhibits pure flavors of cherry, raspberry and rose, shaded by mineral and tobacco. It's succulent and silky, until the firm tannins sweep in on the savory finish. Drawing its fruit from old vines in La Morra, the Enzo Boglietti 2016 Barolo Fossati offers a smooth, silky and accessible personality. This wine should probably be accessible with another five years or more of aging. This vineyard site has silty soils, and these conditions work to create complexity and soft dimension in the wine. Red cherry, dried raspberry, blood orange, licorice and smoke emerge from the bouquet. Only 3,600 bottles were made.
