Both of these wines from Serge Chastan's Domaine Lou Frejau performed well in my tastings. The 1991 white Chateauneuf du Pape is certainly a success in a mediocre to poor year. The flowery, alcoholic nose is backed up by adequate ripeness, excellent fruit, and a medium to full-bodied, chewy texture. Surprisingly soft and well-endowed, it should be consumed over the next year. Importer: Wines of France, an Alain Junguenet Selection, Mountainside, NJ.
