Brassy in hue and toasty in aroma, Galevan's 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is all Grenache Blanc, fermented and aged in new barriques. It's medium to full-bodied, with flavors of roasted nuts and citrus, but for the moment, it lacks distinction beyond the fancy oak treatment.

A white that just blew me away was the 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc from Madame Goumarre. This total blockbuster, which is made from 91% Grenache Blanc and the rest Roussanne, Clairette and Bourboulenc, offers sensational notes of white peach, pineapple, buttered citrus and hints of sautéed apples. Brought up all in new barrels, it shows plenty of toast and caramelized notes, but the quality of the fruit is brilliant. Rich, medium to full-bodied, concentrated and yet never heavy, with vibrant acidity, it’s the best white from this estate to date. Don’t miss it!

The rich, beautifully textured 2014 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a serious white that excels for its depth of fruit and layered, mouth-filling style. Made from 80% Grenache Blanc and 20% Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc that was aged all in barrel, it exhibits a medium gold color as well as classic southern Rh?ne inspired notes of orchard fruits, brioche and honeysuckle. While no lightweight and with moderate acidity, it stays clean, refreshing and crisp with a dry finish. I like it, but wouldn’t push the aging curve too much.

A gorgeous white that excels on all accounts, the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc has rocking minerality, flint and crushed rock in its peach and white-flowers core. Checking in as a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc, it’s a medium-bodied, focused and elegant white that’s perfectly balanced, has building richness and a terrific finish. Count me a fan. It should impress for a number of years (although I haven’t tasted any aged example of this particular cuvée).

The only white tasted, and a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Clairette, Roussanne and Bourboulenc, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is stunning. Loaded with mulled orchard fruit, citrus blossom, custard and salty minerality, it is medium-bodied, textured and has great, yet integrated acidity. I’m a fan and it should drink nicely for 2-3 years. Drink now-2016. This high-quality estate is run by Coralie Goumarre and covers roughly 120 acres in Cotes du Rhones and a tiny 4 acres in Chateauneuf du Pape. Located mostly in the northeastern part of the appellation, she produces two red Chateauneufs and one white.
