Made from equal parts Grenache and Syrah, the 2015 Gigondas offers classic notes of saddle leather, sweet red and black fruits and hints of flower garden. Medium to full-bodied, nicely textured and balanced, I suspect it will be an outstanding effort from this solid estate and keep for a decade.

Aged all in cement tanks and a traditionally-styled effort, the 2012 Gigondas possesses loads of wild herbs, loamy soil, leather, truffle and peppery nuances in its medium to full-bodied, balanced and overall fresh and elegant profile. Showing fine tannin on the finish, with plenty of fruit, it should evolve gracefully for 7-8 years. Covering a scant 2.5 acres in Gigondas (although they have over 200 acres in total), this estate has been run by Jean-Claude and Philippe Lambert since 1998. While they release a single Gigondas that-s a blend of equal parts Grenache and Syrah, they also produce a Cotes du Rhone Villages Sablet and Plan de Dieu. No known American importer.

Possibly even more impressive is the deep purple-colored 2010 Gigondas. Exhibiting notes of blueberries, black currants, lavender and other spring flowers, this full-bodied, textured, rich, pure, concentrated 2010 should evolve effortlessly for 10-15+ years. (Not yet released)These are two outstanding efforts from Domaine des Pasquiers. Owned by Jean-Claude Lambert, their vineyard is one of the largest in the region as they also make a number of wines outside Gigondas. The cellars are in the quaint, picturesque village of Sablet, which is just north of Gigondas.No known American importer.

The outstanding, multidimensional, layered 2009 Gigondas possesses deep black cherry and black currant fruit intermixed with notes of garrigue, pepper and damp earth. Rich and medium to full-bodied with some tannins still to be resolved, it will benefit from several years of cellaring. It should keep for 12-15 years.
