I love the 2018 Victoria Díez Caballero, Tempranillo from old vines that fermented in concrete with indigenous yeasts and long macerations and matured exclusively in French oak barrels for 15 months. It's perfumed and spicy, with a touch reminiscent of raspberry leaf. It has a medium-bodied palate with fine tannins, good ripeness and balance and bright acidity. 15,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in October 2020.

The 2014 Victoria Díez Caballero feels like an oakier version of the Reserva from that same vintage. It combines notes of flowers with ripe fruit and plenty of spices. The oak is a little more noticeable in the palate too, but there's also medium body and a nice chalky texture. But I still prefer the regular Reserva... 10,000 bottles produced. it was bottled in October 2016.

I had the chance to follow the evolution in bottle of the 2011 Victoria Díez Caballero, which in April 2015 I found quite oaky. This is a wine first produced in 2007 and not bottled every vintage. The nose has developed further nuances that took me to the northern Rh?ne, but the palate had more Mediterranean characteristics with some dusty tannins that would welcome some food. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2013.

The nose of the 2010 Victoria Diez-Caballero Crianza is perfumed and open for business, with a mixture of ripe plums, peaches and apricots and a coat of sweet spices (mainly cinnamon). The palate is round with abundant tannins and the flavors of sweet spices making a comeback in the finish. Drink 2014-2016. The 2008 Victoria is the Bodega’s bow to a modern, fruit-forward style. It was sourced from 60-year-old vines, the oldest on the estate, and aged for 12 months in French oak. It exhibits a complex aromatic array of Asian spices, incense, lavender, and blackberry followed by a wine with outstanding volume, impeccable balance, 2-3 years of aging potential, and a lengthy finish.
