The 2011 Les Sorts Jove is a blend of 50% Carinena with Garnacha and Syrah. It has a simple, bright nose of red cherry fruit that has a pleasant jammy quality to it. The palate is sweet and a little confected on the entry, although it shows pleasing control on the Morello cherry and strawberry finish, which has a volatile kick. Drink now. Celler El Masroig is Monstant’s largest co-operative. It was founded in 1917 between grape and olive growers and consists of 300 members who tend 500 hectares of vineyard. The 2010 Les Sorts Jove is composed of 50% Samso, 30% Garnacha, and 20% Syrah. It exhibits a nose of smoke, earthy minerals, black cherry, and blueberry. Made in a racy style and displaying a bit of complexity, this well- balanced wine is a very good value that will provide pleasure for several more years.
