I tasted this wine from barrel, but because it will be released in September (or maybe earlier, I am told), I'm giving it a final score here. The 2017 Dolcetto d'Alba Vigna Scot is a bright and exuberant expression that is bursting with luscious primary fruit. The 2017 growing season, with its heat and dryness, was absolutely ideal for the robust Dolcetto grape. Some 13,400 bottles were produced. The wine will continue its six months of oak, but it won't do more than that because too much barrel can take away from the fruity freshness and the grape's natural sweetness. You get all of that here despite the reductive phase in which I tasted it. The alcohol can be high in this vintage, but it is well hidden in the case of this wine.
