The 2004 Carmelo Rodero Reserva is composed of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from 35+-year-old vines. It was aged for 21 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Deep purple in color, it reveals toasty notes along with fragrant violets, scorched earth, mineral, and blackberry aromas. This leads to a full-bodied wine with well-integrated oak, layers of spicy black fruits, enough structure to evolve for 3-4 years, as well as some finesse. This lengthy, pure wine should provide pleasure through 2025.
