The single vineyards 2011 Arrocal ángel is an homage to a member of the family obviously called ángel, and it's produced with a 71 year old Tempranillo vineyard in the village of Gumiel del Mercado. The year was warm and ripe, and the fruit is black rather than red, and after 20 months in oak, a patina of sweet spices and smoky aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, fresher than what I expected. 3,000 bottles.

The ripe fruit flavors of black cherry, plum and pomegranate remain crisp and focused in this polished red, accented with toast and mineral notes.
