The 2010 Arrocal Angel is Tempranillo from a 60-year-old single-vineyard aged for 20 months in new French oak. The nose has ripe cherries and blackberries with plenty of notes from the oak, including vanilla and cinnamon. The palate is full-bodied, with abundant, dusty, drying tannins. Here the question is, if the fruit is going to be able to overcome 20 months in new oak. Time will tell. Wait and drink 2015-2019.
Arrocal is located in Gumiel del Mercado in the province of Burgos. These are modern, well-crafted wines.
