The Beni di Batasiolo 2017 Barbaresco is a simple and stripped-down expression with basic layers of dried cherry and redcurrant. From a scorching hot vintage, this wine is released a bit later than its peers. It carries itself well, showing some added concentration and ripeness but remains accessible and easy overall. 60,000 bottles were produced.

Ripe fruit aromas of summer cherry and plum rise from the bouquet of the 2016 Barbaresco. This is an easygoing expression of Nebbiolo that plays its winning cards with an expert hand—especially in this balanced vintage. You get lots of small-fruit detailing with spice, leather and tar at the back. Dusty notes of crushed mineral appear on the finish. The wine goes into tonneaux for ten months. Some 60,000 bottles were made.

The 2015 Barbaresco offers moderate complexity. Streamlined and tight, it is an approachable and easy-drinking wine. The Nebbiolo fruit is bright but not overripe. The lean and short finish ends with a touch of cherry sweetness. Pair this wine with lamb and green mint sauce.

The 2014 vintage is an odd one that performed very badly in much of Italy but that showed interesting results in Barbaresco, thanks to late-ripening fruit that caught the heat wave at the tail end of the growing season. The 2014 Barbaresco is balanced and fine. Perhaps what it lacks is general intensity and fruit buoyancy. The finish is lean and compact. Some 80,000 bottles were made in this vintage.
