The 2009 Sauvignon Vulcaia Fume is another heavy, plodding with little in the way of varietal character. Honey, almonds and candied orange peel linger on the sweet finish. The 2008 Vulcaia Fume offers up intense varietal notes layered with honey, French oak, flowers and mint. As always, this is a decidedly exuberant style of Sauvignon that needs time in the glass to fully blossom. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2015. Inama is one of Veneto’s premier producers. he 2002 Vulcaia Fume Sauvignon, tasted from magnum, is made in a very ripe style. It possesses a plush core of honeyed fruit, with excellent volume and length on the palate but very little varietal expression. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2010. Inama is another of the region’s leading producers of Soave. The 1997 Vulcaia Fume dei Veneto is impressive (100% Sauvignon Blanc). Light golden-colored, with an exotic nose of candied melons, peaches, spice, and rich fruit, this full-bodied, concentrated, layered wine is one of the finest dry Sauvignon Blancs ever produced.
