Aged in old oak, the elegant, medium-bodied, well-made 2004 Tempranillo exhibits plenty of berry fruit along with hints of white chocolate and herbs. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. A new winery (I believe these are the debut releases), winemaker/proprietor Justin McNamee (who looks like a young Bob Dylan) worked at Giscours and Du Tertre in Bordeaux, followed by an apprenticeship at Napa’s Chateau Montelena. His first efforts are impressive, although I do not understand why anyone would play with Tempranillo given how well that grape does in Spain, and for a lot less money.Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel.
