The dark ruby/purple-tinged 2008 Syrah Originals (the name refers to the fact that these are the oldest vines planted in the estate's limestone-dominated Ballard Canyon vineyard) exhibits beautiful blueberry, black cherry, and black currant fruit intertwined with a hint of spring flowers. The wine cuts a broad swath across the palate with outstanding purity, a hint of spice from wood aging, a full-bodied, elegant, fresh style, and a long finish.
