The 2007 Barbaresco Faset emerges from the glass with sweet, candied cherries, mint and flowers, showing tons of vintage character in its ripe, seductive personality. Firm yet well-integrated tannins support a core of expressive, perfumed fruit in this beautiful Barbaresco. The Faset is the finest wine I have tasted from La Spinona in many years. Ideally, the wine needs further time in bottle for the tannins to soften. Elements of austerity remain, but they aren’t as pronounced as is often the case. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. La Spinona is a curious producer. The wines often show very attractive fruit, yet they are typically very austere, even within the context of traditionally-made Barbaresco and Barolo. Personally, I believe there is a lot of untapped potential here.Importer: Frederick Wildman and Sons Ltd, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700
