The dense plum/purple-hued 2009 Fonroque offers up notes of sandy, loamy soil, sagebrush, sweet cherries and black currants. Medium to full-bodied, rich and moderately tannic, it is one of the more firmly structured, reserved 2009s. Everything needed for a long evolution (two decades or more) is present, but this offering should be forgotten for 5-7 years.
Owned by Alain Moueix, this bio-dynamically run estate sits on flat clay, sand and gravel soils a kilometer or so before the entrance to the village of St.-Emilion in the direction of Libourne.
