The 1994 possesses a licorice, peppery, black-cherry/kirsch-scented nose, spicy, full-bodied, tannic, structured flavors, outstanding depth, and copious amounts of alcohol and glycerin in the long finish. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following 20 years. Chapoutier is moving toward one bottling of La Bernardine, but in 1994 there will be a second bottling. It is the exact same blend, but it will not be bottled until the first 8,000 cases of lot 6731 (this wine) are sold. Last tasted 6/96.
