Even more impressive is the 2011 Rasteau Vieilles Vignes. Comprised of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah – aged all in concrete – that was harvest late in September, it’s inky purple color is followed by a dense, serious bouquet of black fruits, plum, new leather and graphite. This full-bodied, structured and fresh effort is one of the more serious Rasteaus in the vintage. Drink it over the coming 8-9 years. Drink 2014-2022.
Run by Jean-Pierre Bertrand, with consulting help from Philippe Cambie, this top-notch estate covers over 70 acres, mostly in Rasteau.
