Paolo Conterno makes several lovely expressions of Langhe Nebbiolo that offer you a window onto the grape without the austerity (or the expense) of Barolo. Among the most successful is the 2010 Langhe Nebbiolo Bric Ginestra. This wine presents clean and focused layers of wild berry, cherry, spice and leather. The texture is lean and compact with silky smoothness that is reinforced by the integrated tannins. An added bonus is the delightful endnote of brimstone and underbrush that adds an undeniable touch of elegance and pedigree. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2018.
