The 2008 Langhe Nebbiolo Bric Ginestra is a more serious wine than the straight Langhe Nebbiolo. Dark cherries, spices, licorice and a host of balsamic nuances flow from the glass. The firm tannins add notable persistence to the finish and suggest another year or two of bottle age is probably wise. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
Proprietor Giorgio Conterno’s strength lies with the Nebbioli from his holdings in the Ginestra vineyard. Conterno makes a wide range of selections, but the straight Barolo Ginestra is his finest wine year in, year out.
