The 2014 Bolgheri Superiore Argentiera shows rich and ripe fruit flavors that put the wine ahead of expectations for this difficult vintage. This is a well-made expression that relies on quality fruit and a severe selection process in order to achieve the intensity and depth on display here. The bouquet offers tones of black fruit, spice and sweet tobacco or Spanish cedar. The finish is structured but also smooth and powerful. This wine is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc all aged in oak for 18 months. Some 60,000 bottles were produced.
