The 2004 Varietales is a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 25% Merlot aged in cask. Dark ruby-colored, it displays aromas of cedar, Asian spices, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Sweetly-fruited, dense, and intense on the palate, this savory, smooth-textured offering is approachable now but will continue to drink well for another 5-6 years.
Bodegas Buezo's three offerings from the relatively new DO of Arlanza are uniformly excellent.
