With respect to the three 1990 Barolos I tasted from Vietti, the 1990 Barolo Lazzarito displays an attractive, roasted, melted tar, black fruit and almond-scented nose, excellent richness, medium to full body, and a soft, heady, alcoholic finish. An excellent wine, it may merit an outstanding score, but in my tasting it was significantly less profound than the two other offerings. Alfredo Currado is one of the great gentlemen of Piedmont, so it is delightful to share with readers my enthusiastic reviews of his 1989 and 1990 offerings.
