2006 PASSA is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, only 1/3rd of which was aged in French oak. This is a rather tasty ’06, with obvious fruit, a nice mouthfeel and good acidity. There is a touch of an herbal note on the wine. It does thin with some air and the finish is a bit short. I like the style here, though--limited oak, intensity of fruit flavor. It will show best when young. Drink now-2012.This estate features winemaker Jorge Borges (who also owns his own winery, Wine & Soul of Pintas fame). Jorge and wife Sandra Tavares (Pintas and Lemos & Van Zeller) between them produced some of the best wines of the difficult 2006 vintage. Prices were not set at the time of publication. The Reserva had a suggested retail price of $59 for the 2005.Importer: Europvin, New York, N.Y.; tel. (212) 243-1236.
