Soter's Pinot Noir, which is a blend of multiple clones from cooler areas of Napa Valley, is always an attractive, round, supple-textured wine that reminds me of a good premier cru from the Cote de Nuits. As I have written in the past, there is a Domaine Dujac-like fragrance and elegance to the wine. The 1994 Pinot Noir is darker ruby-colored than usual, with a smoky, cinnamon, black-cherry, spicy-scented nose, ripe, round, medium-bodied flavors, and a velvety finish. It is complex, soft, and ideal for drinking over the next 3-4 years.
