The 1962 Chinon Les Picasses is another fabulous red from a vintage that flowered only after midsummer. Intense and dense in its ruby-garnet color, the wine opens intense and concentrated on the nose, with dried cherry skin notes. Intense and concentrated also on the palate, this is a firmly structured and powerful Chinon with perfectly ripe fruit, a silky texture and a very long finish. The 1962 is tighter and more marked on the rather masculine palate than the 1964. Very impressive. Tasted with Bertrand Sourdais at Domaine de Pallus.
