The 2013 Branco, i.e., the estate white with just Herdade do Rocim on the label, is an unoaked blend of 40% Antao Vaz, 30% Arinto and 30% Roupeiro. It comes in at 13% alcohol. Adding a layer of depth and steeliness to the demeanor of the Mariana white also reviewed this issue, this estate Branco is beautifully constructed. It is perfectly balanced. With air, it becomes graceful and utterly charming. True, it is not the biggest, deepest or most powerful white around, but it is quite delicious and has just enough of everything. It drinks great now, glorious in its fresh purity. It should hold a bit, but drink it young for best results. Drink now-2017.
Rocim was one of the estates that said to me that the rains at harvest in 2013 were of little consequence – they got everything in before the rain, but for one block of Alicante Bouschet.
