The 2012 Branco, the Estate white with just Herdade do Rocim on the label, is a blend of 50% Antao Vaz, 20% Roupeiro and 30% Arinto, all tank aged. Rocim is trying hard to be a good white wine producer – not usually Alentejo’s specialty – and I am finding them generally quite attractive. This Branco is a nicely constructed white with reasonable solidity and good acidity that tastes great and seems fresh and friendly, finishing quite dry. It is easy to love at the moment, and there isn’t much to choose from between this and the Reserva other than style (although the Reserva may well age better). Drink now-2016.
