The 1993 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru les Bousselots came from an impeccable cellar and like many 1993s, it seems to have settled in a sweet spot at 23 years of age. Still youthful in color, the bouquet comes racing at you in typical Chevillon style with gorgeous dark berry and Earl Grey aromas, well defined with a pleasant loamy character underneath. You could argue that the palate does not quite reach the heights of the aromatics and yet this Nuits Saint-Georges still offers much pleasure. There is good weight in the mouth, more fruit-forward than its fellow 1993s with black plum, bilberry and a touch of undergrowth, finishing in confidence and style that suggests it will continue to drink for another 8 to 10 years. Tasted August 2016.
