The 2002 Roda Reserva is a blend of 94% Tempranillo, 4% Garnacha, and 2% Graciano. The color is medium ruby and the nose offers attractive aromas of earth, spice box, and blackberry. This is followed by an elegant if slightly dilute wine lacking in concentration. The red berry flavors are tasty and the wine is ready to drink now and over the next 4-6 years. Typical of many 2002 Riojas, this packs a punch but doesn’t hit many high marks. The nose is heavy and dark, while the plum and cherry flavors that carry the palate also have touches of green and bramble.
