The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, is ruby in color, with a fruit-driven nose of plums and kirsch, attractively energetic and penetrating. The palate is firm and long, the tannins in good support of the ripe fruit, and only a slight hardness on the finish prevents the score from going higher. Drink: 2005-2012. Consistent inconsistency characterize the wines of this property to the north of Montalcino. This year’s tasting is no exception.
