The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva, is ruby in color, with a fruit-driven nose of plums and kirsch, attractively energetic and penetrating. The palate is firm and long, the tannins in good support of the ripe fruit, and only a slight hardness on the finish prevents the score from going higher. Drink: 2005-2012. Consistent inconsistency characterize the wines of this property to the north of Montalcino. This year’s tasting is no exception. Bright and clean red. Lovely aromas of crushed berries, roses and light vanilla. Full-bodied, with lovely silky tannins and a balance of ripe fruit, berries and mint. Long, caressing texture.
