From the Tenuta Presti and Pegni vineyard, the 2012 Sicilia Noà is a top shelf blend of Nero d'Avola, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a meaty and very concentrated wine that opens to an impenetrable appearance and segues to opulent tones of cherry liqueur, Spanish cedar, vanilla and maple syrup. The bouquet is impressive but there are some rough spots in terms of mouthfeel. A point of tight tannic astringency seems more evident in this warm vintage. I'm not sure it will ever fully integrate but it might soften with a year or two of extra bottle aging.
