This elegant red appears to have been inspired by classic European rather than South Australian winemaking. The serious 2003 Tipico is a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and 20% Shiraz aged in neutral 500 liter French puncheons. A peppery, earthy bouquet, reminiscent of a French Cotes du Rhone, reveals hints of garrigue, kirsch, raspberries, and spice box. This stylish, full-flavored, heady red should be drunk over the next 2-3 years. Importer: Ken Onish & John Gorman, Southern Starz, Huntington Beach, CA; tel. (714) 892-3030
