Revealing a ruby color and spicy, sweet black cherry, and mineral aromas, the Volnay Caillerets is thick, sweet, concentrated and complete. This rich and medium-bodied wine's flavors are reminiscent of raspberries, cherries, herbs, and minerals. Drink it between now and 2003.
Yields were high in 1996, on average 45 hectoliters/hectare or more according to Bouley. The wines are fined and filtered (though exceptions are made for the premier crus that don't "need" filtration). My impression is that these wines should be drunk early.
