Chalone's 1994 Pinot Blanc Reserve requires 2-4 years of cellaring. Fortunately, a disturbing mustiness in the aromatics blows off to reveal citrusy, mineral, and orange blossom-like scents, followed by backward, rich, medium to full-bodied flavors with tangy acidity, and imposing structure. The wine is impressively weighty in the mouth, without "feeling" heavy. It is about as large-scaled a Pinot Blanc as anyone will find in California. I would not be surprised if this wine lasted for 10-12 years.Tel. (707) 254-4200; Fax (707) 254-4201
