The 2005 Valtellina Superiore Vigneto Fracia is a very elegant wine. It reveals typical Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) aromas and flavors, with an additional dimension of weight and richness from the French oak barrels in which it was aged. The wine possesses outstanding harmony in a medium-bodied style, although it needs another year or so in bottle for the tannins to soften a bit. This is a terrific effort from Nino Negri.
