The elegant 2001 Barbaresco Serraboella (aged 60% in cask and 40% in barrique), is a more modern-styled wine with its notes of toasted oak, spices, roasted coffee beans, sweet red fruit and minerals. Although it finishes with great length and balance, it doesn’t quite express the level of depth and complexity I would expect in this vintage and from this terroir. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2015.
