Rosemount Estate must be one of the world's leading wineries for producing a bevy of delicious wines at fair prices. ironically, the most expensive white wine, their Roxburgh Chardonnay, was my least favorite. I tasted the 1993 in January, 1997, and it was an excessively oaky, unfocused, flabby Chardonnay that had already dropped much of its fruit. In complete contrast, the other white wine offerings exhibit freshness, vibrancy, purity, and outstanding value. The 1996 Traminer (60%)/Riesling (40%) is an aromatic, refreshing, vibrant wine offering gobs of citrusy fruit, a touch of green apple, good purity, and a light-bodied, crisp, dry, refreshing finish. Drink this delicious bargain over the next year. Those wines priced less the $10 are excellent values. Importer: Rosemount Wines, Inc., Sonoma, CA; tel. (707) 996-4504
