The wines made with Bordeaux grapes begin with the 2008 Merlot which contains 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec that was aged for 20 months in French and American oak. It is a pleasant but hardly profound effort that offers up ample spicy fruit, good depth and concentration, and some succulence. Drink this solid effort over the next 6-8 years. Annette Bergevin and Amber Lane continue to turn out excellent wines at very fair prices from their Walla Walla-based winery. The current releases, particularly the Syrah cuvees, appear to be their best wines to date. The Calico wines are always terrific values and the new releases are no exception.Tel.
