This is pure Merlot which, in Washington, does not equate to lifeless, wimpy wine. Au contraire, this reveals supple, lovely flavors of mixed red apples, plums and cranberry. There are firm acids anchoring it, and I like the snap of the fruit as it hits the back of the palate. It is a very accessible, approachable wine that finishes with a nicely applied layer of milk chocolaty oak. ——P.G.(12/31/2006)—— 88
